Settling In

It’s been a very busy month.  My family and I have completed the sale of our home in North Carolina and subsequent move to our new home down in Florida.  Praise God, all went smoothly.  Every challenging situation was met with the right help at just the right time.  I think the whole thing was most difficult on my littlest youngins since they just couldn’t seem to understand what all was happening.  A week now in our new home and they all seem to be settling in nicely.

A few days before moving, we made time to go visit one of our all-time favorite places, Stone Mountain State Park.

My second youngest son, pausing for a moment at the kitchen table while we were packing up the house in North Carolina.  I shot this one with a new-to-me Olympus OM Zuiko 35mm f/2.8.  I’ll be posting more from that lens soon.  Right before leaving NC, I came across this lens for sale on Craigslist.  A spectacular lens!

Last night, I finally took the time to walk around the woods of our new property in Florida.  It’s so quiet and peaceful here.  The only sounds to be heard were birds in the trees and the sound of wind blowing through trees that are lightly adorned with Spanish Moss.  The setting sun gave such a nice warm glow to everything.

I hate to cut short this post but I must dash.  I’m off with my Dad to go pick up an old farmhouse dining table for the new house.

  1. Congrats on the new home! Wish you had of headed north instead of south!! But I do understand and support the need for you to be there. May you all find peace and joy in your new home!

  2. Are those all your kids? Man.. I grew up with 4 brothers and 4 must have the patience of Job… and you must have a decent income…we struggled.
Anyway fine looking family..I just moved to New England from Florida…mines a different situation but I am happier in New England.
Also wanted to mention to you as I haven’t stopped in for a while… I have been considering falling back to film for a while and the opportunity to purchase an F5 in near mint condition pushed me over the edge. A recent purchase of an LS-8000 scanner…many many negs 35mm and 120 was another push.
So as I wait for the F5…coming from Japan (where all good photo equipment is made) I have been stocking up on film and chemicals.. I is stoked!!
